The one's who do the real work John Moon is the proprietor and founder of Team Edison. John has extensive Public Relations and journalism experience and has been a motor sport commentator since 1977. John also has many years of radio experience, having broadcast his own motor sport programme on Wiltshire Radio and subsequently 'GWR' from 1982 to c1993. He provided the official radio service for the 'RAC' Rally of Great Britain for 5 years. He has also written for a variety of local and national publications including 'Motorsport News' and has made a number of TV appearances, including a regular 'Formula 1' slot on cable television and in 2004 for the 'Men and Motors' programme 'Top Dog'. He has also been active in the motoring world, having written regular 'road test' columns in local newspspapers since 1982. He also appears on TV as a provider of specialist comment on financial matters, his most recent appearance being on ITV in November 2008.Having started Autograss racing at 16, John decided to try circuit racing in 1995 and promptly won class C of the Handygas Saloon Car Championship at Castle Combe in a 1.4 Nova, also putting the car on pole for the road saloons race there in only in his 4th ever motor race. He was awarded 'Rookie of the Year'. In 1996 John won the roadgoing class of the HSCC 70's Roadsports Championship in his TVR 3000M, going on to contest the highly competitive Eurocar Championship in 1997. 1998 saw the birth of the team's unique Calibra Turbo, which won the Saloon Car championship race at Castle Combe in the wet from 17th on the grid in 1999. From 2002 to 2008, John contested the FISC EuroTour in his Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite, one of the fastest cars in the championship and certainly the quickest (and almost only) 'quarter elliptic' car. Highlight of 2007 was pole, fastest lap and a win at Monza. John finished fourth overall in the series, just a handful of points separating the top four drivers after an epic, season long battle. In 2008, the team contested a few rounds of the Peter Best Insurance MGCC championship and with slicks and no rev limiter, the Frogeye was a front running car and a match for the V8 MGBs. The car was arguably the fastest quarter elliptic Frogeye, with original suspension, in the world! Unfortunately, following a huge accident at Silverstone, through the stupidity of a following 'driver', the car was badly damaged and is now being rebuilt with a Lenham body. More FISC outings are planned, as are HRDC GT Greats races.
